Island Advance Task Force

The Greater Charlottetown Area Chamber of Commerce hosts a business forum to discuss the challenges and opportunities faced by PEI’s economy. As a result the Chamber establishes the Island Advance Task Force with representatives from the private sector, education, industry associations and government to identify priority actions required for economic renewal and long-term growth.

IA Task Force ReportThe Island Advance Task Force releases a report, titled Advancing our Economic Future (full report). The report identifies three broad objectives and priority actions needed to help achieve them: Embrace Entrepreneurship; Improve Access to Capital; and Attract, Retain and Integrate Skilled and Entrepreneurial Immigrants .

Island Advance Phase I

The Island Advance Advisory Board and Steering Committee are established. With support from ACOA and Innovation PEI, the Island Advance Project Team begins to execute priority actions within the three pillars (Entrepreneurship, Capital, Immigration) outlined in the Task Force report.

August 1

Island Advance Phase II

With renewed support from ACOA and Innovation PEI, Island Advance continues to work within the three areas of focus identified by the Task Force: entrepreneurship, capital, and immigration, with an increased province-wide focus on stakeholder engagement, partnership, educating investors, and celebrating entrepreneurs.
